Featured Speaker: Commissioner Kathy Kelley Ohlrich  

Kathy Kelley Ohlrich earned a B.S. in Communicative Disorders from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and M.Ed. from Cleveland State University. She spent 32 years working in school districts and related agencies as a speech-language pathologist, staff development trainer, and assessment coordinator.

For years Kathy has been involved in governance and government, serving as president of the Ohio Speech Language Hearing Association, member and chair of the Ohio Board of Speech Language Pathology and Audiology, and as an elected councilperson in her Ohio municipality. Additionally, Kathy chaired the committee that wrote the Comprehensive Plan for her community in Ohio.

Kathy served as a member and chair of Sarasota’s Citizens with Disabilities advisory Board, as a member, vice chair and chair of our City’s Planning Board and brings a depth of knowledge related to planning, zoning, and development standards.

Kathy served on the Architectural Review Committee, as secretary and president of her neighborhood association. She represented Glen Oaks Ridge at the Coalition of City Neighborhood Associations (CCNA), served on the CCNA Executive Committee as D3 representative, 1st Vice Chair, and two terms as chair. She has knowledge and experience in meeting governance as well as parliamentary procedure.

In 2022, Conserve Bobby Jones Now, of which Kathy is a founding member, received the Conservation of the Year Award from The Conservation Foundation of the Gulf Coast, now called the Big Waters Land Trust.

In 2023, Kathy is proud to have completed a 6-day 80-mile hike on the El Camino de Santiago after training for many months by hiking along the Legacy Trail.
