All Faiths Food Bank receives hurricane relief grants
SARASOTA, Fla. (February 11, 2025) – All Faiths Food Bank (AFFB) received grants from numerous funders in support of its disaster relief efforts in the wake of last year’s hurricanes. Grants were awarded by: Feeding America, $222,000; Bank of America Charitable Foundation, $85,000; Comcast, $50,000; United Way Suncoast, $49,000; William G. and Marie Selby Foundation, $15,000; Elevance Health Foundation, $10,000; the Starbucks Foundation, $5,000; and Gerald A. & Karen A. Kolschowsky Foundation.
The grants assisted All Faiths Food Bank – one of the lead emergency response agencies in Sarasota and DeSoto counties, and the state – with initial and ongoing recovery efforts in the aftermath of hurricanes Debby, Helene and Milton. The funds from United Way Suncoast and William G. and Marie Selby Foundation helped with the purchase of new warehouse equipment.
Before, during and after a storm, AFFB delivers tens of thousands of pounds of food, water, and emergency supplies to shelters and disaster relief organizations, and holds pop-up mobile food distributions to help people affected. AFFB also works with Feeding Florida and partner food banks around the state to coordinate recovery efforts and transport food to communities in need.
“The 2024 hurricane season impacted every one of us in some way – and it was particularly devastating for our neighbors who were already at risk of or experiencing hunger,” said All Faiths Food Bank’s President and CEO, Nelle S. Miller. “We are so grateful to our caring partners for their generosity and desire to support our efforts to help our community as we continue to rebuild.”
