SARASOTA, Fla. Ten years after first walking through Music Compound's doors as a student, Grant Gregory has returned to help lead the organization that helped shape his future.

Music Compound recently welcomed Gregory as its new Operations & Finance Coordinator, a position created specifically to combine his expertise in finance, analytics, and organizational strategy with his lifelong passion for music.

Gregory is one of 32 team members employed by Music Compound, which has served more than 5,000 students and members since opening in 2016. The Sarasota based music school recently reached a record of 478 active memberships, the highest in company history, and is on pace to surpass 600 memberships by the end of 2026.

Gregory's journey with Music Compound began in 2016 as a student before joining the team in 2017, where he assisted with Kidz Rock classes, front desk operations, concerts, and special events. During those early years, he developed not only as a musician but also as a leader, performer, and collaborator.

After graduating from Florida State University with his bachelor's degree and earning his Master of Business Administration from the University of South Florida, Gregory built a successful career in auditing, finance, and business analytics. While his career flourished, Music Compound remained close to his heart.

Earlier this year, Music Compound celebrated its tenth anniversary by welcoming alumni back to perform on stage. Gregory returned to perform original music, including a love song written for a fellow Music Compound student he met in 2018. That friendship grew into a lasting relationship, and the couple recently became engaged in New York City.

Following the anniversary celebration, Gregory shared with Music Compound Founder and CEO Jenny Townsend his dream of combining his passion for music with his professional experience in finance and business strategy. Although Music Compound was not actively hiring, the conversation inspired months of discussion about the organization's future. 

"We realized Grant possessed exactly what our leadership team needed," said Townsend. "He brings exceptional analytical thinking, financial expertise, organization, and attention to detail while fully understanding our culture and mission because he has lived it. Sometimes the right person is worth creating the right opportunity."

Townsend ultimately created the Operations & Finance Coordinator position to strengthen Music Compound's financial reporting, operational systems, business analytics, and strategic planning as the organization continues its rapid growth.

Townsend and Gregory also share another Sarasota connection. Both are Cardinal Mooney Catholic High School alumni and are passionate about investing in the local community that helped shape their own journeys.

"Music Compound helped shape who I am today," said Gregory. "Returning allows me to combine my passion for music with the business skills I have developed while helping create an even stronger future for our students, families, and team. It truly feels like coming home."

Today, Gregory continues writing and performing original music while helping strengthen the organization behind the scenes, ensuring Music Compound is positioned for continued growth and impact throughout the Sarasota community.

Gregory's story reflects Music Compound's mission to inspire, collaborate, and educate while demonstrating that the lessons learned through music often extend far beyond the stage.
