Goodwill Manasota opening new attended donation center on Cortez Road

In its ongoing efforts to strengthen communities and lower barriers to employment, Goodwill Manasota is continuing to open new attended donation centers throughout the region. On June 30, the organization will open a new attended donation center (ADC) in Bradenton; the Lake Flores ADC will be located at 8004 Cortez Rd. W., the former site of Ghost Street Kitchen.

With this new location, Goodwill hopes to provide an additional convenient option for residents to donate gently-used goods, support growth in the area, and advance its mission of changing lives through the power of work. Through its mission-integrated retail operations, Goodwill provides jobs for those with barriers to employment, free career services for community members seeking to improve their life and job prospects, and support for veterans – to help them reintegrate into their communities, families and jobs – as well as those who have been justice-involved.

The site has undergone a complete interior renovation. The opening of this ADC has enabled Goodwill to create three new jobs; donations from the community will be gratefully accepted seven days a week, from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m.

“We chose this location because of the substantial growth in the area and the desire for a convenient place for local residents to donate their gently-used items to Goodwill,” said Donn Githens, President and CEO of Goodwill Manasota. “The average donation powers more than three hours of job training, education and opportunities, directly helping our neighbors to build brighter futures.”

ADCs play a crucial role in supporting Goodwill’s mission-integrated donated social enterprise, which offers life-changing services. Donations of gently-used goods dropped off at a Goodwill ADC or store serves as the fuel that powers thousands of hours of on-the-clock education and job training, in addition to job and life coaching through Goodwill’s award-winning GoodPartner Coach program and vital programs for veterans. Goodwill Manasota’s territory includes Sarasota, Manatee, DeSoto, Hardee, and portions of Lee and Northwest Charlotte counties.
