JFCS of the Suncoast Raises $325,000 at Inaugural Hope in Bloom Luncheon
SARASOTA, FL (March 26, 2025) — JFCS of the Suncoast hosted its inaugural Hope in Bloom luncheon on March 9th at the picturesque Marie Selby Botanical Gardens, raising an impressive $325,000 from ticket sales, sponsorships, and a paddle raise during the event. Nearly 200 guests gathered to support JFCS’s impactful work and celebrate the power of hope and resilience.
The event featured special guest speaker Alexis, a camper from JFCS’s Camp Mariposa, a transformative camp designed for children who have a family member struggling with addiction. Alexis shared her moving story of growing up in a family affected by addiction and how Camp Mariposa has given her the tools to heal and grow. Her heartfelt words left a lasting impact on all in attendance.
Dr. Helene Lotman, President and CEO of JFCS of the Suncoast, and Dr. Stacie Herrera, Board Chair, also addressed the audience, highlighting the vital work JFCS does to support families and children in the community. In addition, the event honored Stan and Jo Rutstein for their unwavering dedication to JFCS and the broader community. Their steadfast commitment has truly planted seeds of hope throughout the Suncoast region.
The room was brought to life with bright, colorful handmade paper flowers and heartfelt thank-you notes crafted by Camp Mariposa children. The uplifting and meaningful program was made even more special by the beautiful botanical garden setting, creating a perfect atmosphere to celebrate JFCS’s mission of building resilience and supporting mental health.
“We are incredibly grateful for the outpouring of generosity from our community,” said Dr. Helene Lotman. “The funds raised today will make a profound difference in the lives of those we serve, especially the children and families who look to JFCS for support and hope.”
JFCS of the Suncoast extends its deepest gratitude to all sponsors, attendees, and volunteers who made the inaugural Hope in Bloom luncheon a remarkable success.
