I’m Amanda Baar, Founder and Executive Director of Mission ABLE. I can still remember May 11th, 2001. I was in kindergarten when over the speaker the front office announced my baby brother Joey was born.

Little did I know that announcement would change the trajectory of my life.

He was born with Down syndrome, a genetic condition caused by an extra copy of chromosome 21. Joey has not only been a blessing to me, but to everyone he meets.

He has taught me patience, kindness and perseverance. He is the driving force behind Mission ABLE and together we are here to change the way the world views those with disabilities!

At Mission ABLE our goal is to create opportunities for

individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities through recreational, social, educational, and community-based programming.

What began as an idea has grown into an official non-profit organization with four core programs, and an incredible Board of Directors. We have seven community partners, and most importantly, a growing group of participants, families, volunteers, and supporters.
