Music Compound's Album Ensemble supports Resilient Retreat

Local music school Music Compound’s Album Ensemble returned for its fifth album tribute effort in March, with three performances of Irish rock legends U2’s renowned fifth album, “The Joshua Tree,” in its entirety. The Album Ensemble – comprising nine students and three Music Compound instructors – performed twice at Music Compound and a third time at The Bazaar on Apricot & Lime.

Through ticket sales, sponsorships and cash donations, nearly $1,500 was raised for Resilient Retreat. This not-for-profit organization, which offers programs to heal the mind, body and soul on its 84-acre campus in Sarasota, takes a new and innovative approach to help those impacted by trauma and abuse. Previous nonprofit beneficiaries have included Safe Place and Rape Crisis Center, the National Alliance on Mental Illness of Sarasota and Manatee Counties, Operation Warrior Resolution, and All Faiths Food Bank.

"I am deeply moved and incredibly grateful for the support we received from Music Compound and its talented students," said Lisa Intagliata, CEO of Resilient Retreat. "The live concert was a truly remarkable experience that not only showcased the incredible musical talents of the next generation but also supported a cause close to our hearts: helping survivors of trauma heal. Music Compound’s mission to turn musical dreams into reality aligns so beautifully with our own mission of healing and empowerment. This collaboration has been a powerful reminder of the strength that community and music can bring."

Music Compound instructors Taylor Galford and Iain Harris created the Album Ensemble program. Previous Album Ensemble shows featured performances of Pink Floyd’s “The Dark Side of the Moon” (October 2023), Fleetwood Mac’s “Rumours” (March 2024), The Beatles’ “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” (June 2024), and Nirvana’s “MTV Unplugged in New York” (October 2024).

“The Album Ensemble effort aligns perfectly with our commitment to fostering collaboration and providing intergenerational opportunities for our students,” said Music Compound owner/president Jenny Townsend. “To be able to present a musical showcase at a high level while raising funds for important organizations and causes makes the whole experience even more meaningful for all involved.”

The date and the album to be covered in the fall will be announced soon. Visit musiccompound.com for more information about Music Compound’s programs for all ages and skill levels.
