Selby Foundation grant supports tech upgrade for All Faiths Food Bank's logistical operations

SARASOTA, Fla. (February 4, 2025) – For a food distribution center with operations as expansive as All Faiths Food Bank's (AFFB), having a software platform that integrates various functions – from receiving and order management to shipping and invoicing, managing agency relationships, and financial reporting – is critical.

The William G. and Marie Selby Foundation’s recent grant of $100,000 will enable All Faiths to upgrade its logistics technology – improving timeliness, efficiency, reliability and quality, and enhancing agency partner interactions. The change will support AFFB's goal to distribute more than 38 million pounds of food to as many as 120,000 neighbors annually by 2035 (the organization currently helps more than 80,000 people a year).

"Not only will our operations become more efficient and reliable, this upgraded system will support the food bank’s growth and delivery efforts, helping to get nutritious food to our agency partners and neighbors in the years to come,” said Bill Haley, AFFB's chief operating officer.

AFFB is the largest hunger relief organization and only food bank in Sarasota and DeSoto counties. Not to be confused with a food pantry, AFFB functions as a distribution center. Each year, 23 million pounds of food are sourced, sorted, inventoried and distributed from the organization’s warehouse throughout Sarasota and DeSoto counties.

The system upgrade will enhance AFFB’s ability to design and control warehouse and inventory management processes and support technology solutions that will improve efficiency and quality across all operational, warehouse and inventory management processes. Front-end order management will also be more user-friendly for AFFB's agency partners, making the distribution process easier for those organizations and people in need of food.

“The Selby Foundation’s investment in technology can support transformative work for nonprofit organizations by helping them focus more energy on their vital missions instead of logistics challenges and navigating older systems,” said Selby Foundation President/CEO Susie Bowie. “In the case of All Faiths Food Bank, this was an opportunity to help an excellent operation become even stronger.”

The project – from training through launch – is expected to be completed and the new system online by September.
