Lights of Friendship Luncheon
raises more than $75,000

More than 130 friends and supporters gathered at the Venice Yacht Club on Nov. 5 for the annual Venice Lights of Friendship Luncheon, sponsored by Senior Friendship Centers.

The event began at 11:30 with a cocktail reception, followed by a luncheon and program at noon. Entertainment was provided by The Syncopation Kings, frequent performers at Senior Friendship Centers events.

Friendship did indeed light up the room, which was filled with familiar faces and new supporters, as well. Guests were welcomed by the Venice Activity Center Manager Robin Boyce, South County Advancement officer Jon DeVries, Senior Friendship Centers President and CEO Erin McLeod, and Chief Advancement Officer Declan Sheehy.

It was McLeod and Sheehy who then led the spirited live auction.

“This year’s Lights of Friendship Luncheon raised an incredible $75,355, the highest level of support ever for a Venice Lights of Friendship event,” said Sheehy. “This is a testament to the community’s generosity and support, and the important role that Senior Friendship Centers plays in our senior community.”

This was a complimentary luncheon supported by donors and sponsors that reflected the true spirit of Senior Friendship Centers – a sense of community, compassion and connection.

“Friendship illuminates every day at Senior Friendship Centers,” said Erin McLeod. “Through the many connections our seniors make, we are able to brighten every step of their journey. Thank you for helping us keep the lights of friendship burning bright for older adults in our community.”

SAVE THE DATE: The next Senior Friendship Centers event will be its annual City of Lights Gala – Under the Spanish Sky, planned for Feb. 28,2026 at the Circus Arts Conservatory in Sarasota. For tickets or more information, visit https://friendshipcenters.org/special-events/
