WUSF Public Media Wins Five Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards, Including Overall Excellence

Tampa, FL (May 29, 2026) — WUSF Public Media has been honored with five Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards, including the prestigious award for Overall Excellence, recognizing the station’s outstanding commitment to high-quality, community-focused journalism.

This marks the second consecutive year WUSF has received the Overall Excellence award in the Regional Murrow competition, which honors the collective work of an entire newsroom.

Presented by the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA), the Edward R. Murrow Awards are among the most respected honors in broadcast and digital journalism, recognizing excellence in news production across the United States.

In addition to Overall Excellence, WUSF earned recognition in several categories reflecting the depth and impact of its reporting:

• Excellence in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for coverage of immigration issues

• Excellence in Innovation for reporting by the Your Florida team on state government

• Sports Reporting for a feature exploring the history of a Tampa golf course and its significance to the Black community

• Additional honors recognizing standout reporting across the newsroom

WUSF competes in Region 13, which includes major media markets across Florida, Georgia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Regional winners advance to the national Murrow Awards competition later this year.
